Diwali..some legends

Diwali or festival of lights as it known..is one of the most charismatic festivals of INDIA.
Hindus,Jains n Sikhs celebrate this festivals..
there are many legends associated with this festival.
One says that it is celebrated as Lord RAMA came back to his kingdom(AYODHYA) after killing RAVANA-king of lanka(who had kiddnapped RAMA's wife SITA).
RAMA was forbidden from his kingdom so upon his return to AYODHYA and his victory over RAVANA.people lit there house's with diya's(light giving lamps)...
Another legend says thtat Goddess LAXMI(who is Goddess of prosperity,money and fame) visits houses of people this day..so people worship her on this day.as she might bless them.
According to another legend PANDVA,s returned to there kingdom after there banishment.
It the start of a new year according to the HINDU calender,so is much awaited every year. Women decorate there house's by making RANGOLI(coloured pictures on ground).
Flowers n lights are also used for decoration.
